1. I have removed the alternator and had it tested it checked out ok
2. replaced battery post's now it has stronger current when I try to turn it over
3. checked and charged the battery
5. tried to test the fuel pump but I am not sure if I done it correctly was I supposed to spray while trying to start the motor. What I did was to spray starter fluid in the in the carb.

With a carb, I would simply gain access to the barrel of the carb where the choke plate is and while looking in to the carb run the throttle a couple of times. It should spray gas in to the carb. Does it?

Is there spark at the plugs. That is next, to make sure that spark is available to the engine.

just put on a glove if you are worried about it. it is safe and very easy. it is also very important. Why don't you first pull off the wire from the coil to the distributor and hold it over the distributor and ensure that there is spark there first. No spark there, then there will not be any at the plugs.

I pull the plugs all out one by one and plugged them into the spark plug wires and not one gave off a spark!! Is this an indication of a bad distributor? or Some thing else. And I checked all my fuses under the hood.
