The AC quit working. I found a bad AC clutch coil. Took AC compressor down and replaced AC clutch coil, charged the system and start the engine. The smoke start to come out from the hood area in 5 minutes. A brand new AC clutch coil from dealer was fried, why?
I cannot find any logical reason for it. I turned AC compressor by hand and it spins freely, no noise.
Why would the AC clutch coil burn?

Hi Andrei71,

Unless there is a shorting in the circuit, if not the coil would not burn.

There is a possibility the new coil is defective or had been damaged prior to installation. This could be due to impact damages while in transit etc.
