2001 Honda Odyssey Brake Noise

I bought a used 2001 Honda Odyssey EX - it went through inspections etc recently and was registered.

After parking the van for over a few hours (early in the morning or later after I leave from work), when I start the car and I apply brakes, I hear a loud squeak. It happens a couple of times and then it disappears.

I had a mechanic look at the brake pads - he said they were good quality metallic pads, the rotors were in good shape, he could not find anything wrong.

Is this characteristic of metallic pads?

Yes semi metalics are tough to quite.I use the more expensive ceramic pad, Look at your pads and see if the shims are on the pads, if so I would leave em alone!

Did he actually pull the pads off? Sounds like one, if not all, of the front pads has a crack in it. Pretty common problem for most all hondas. In fact honda just circulated a bulletin on this. If they are cracked I would get a new set from honda (they're about $60) and new slide clips as well.
