My honda oddysey will not start. When I turn the key, it only makes a click sound and nothing else. I don't think it is the battery since it has power to my lights, doors dash ect. I have also charged the battery and have even tried to jump start it with no luck. The security key below the steering column is also in place firmly. Any ideas as to whan I should be checking? This vehicle was running perfectly and sinply would not start after being parked for less than 30 minutes.

Hi gonzzomar,

Thank you for the donation.

With a clicking noise, it could be either the starter or battery.

The power required for the lights and other accessories are not that high whereas the starter requires a rather large of current to operate. When batteries fails, they would still provide power for accessories but not sufficient for the starter.

Get the battery tested. It should have more than 12 volts and at least 11 volts when cranking.
If a jump start works, the battery or cable would be the main suspect.

The other thing to check would be the starter. Give it some knock and if it works, the starter is failing and requires replacement.

Check the ground cable connections from battery to transmission. Quite often this cables fails when it frays and looses many strands.
