The transmission, timing belt and the water pump needs to be replaced, is it necessary to remove both transmission and engine or is there a simplier repair method?

If it was me doing the job I would probably just remove the transmission and do the timing belt/pump after the transmission job is completed.

You might have some guys say that removing the whole engine might be easier, but for me, to do the timing belt on the car, is a piece of cake.
