Accidentally ran engine low to no oil (dipstick showed a dot of oil on the tip) for more than a week. Discovered had 3 of 4 spark plug wells filled in a pool of oil. My question is other than replacing gaskets and seals, is this sufficient to leak out the whole engine oil? Also, how do I diagnose the engine if it has damaged other internals? What should I look for?

I am very worried as I really love this car and couldnt afford much. Not too familiar with engine noise and what they mean but would appreciate it if someone can even point me to online videos for me to hear what a good honda engine sounds like or what sounds should I be paying attention to.

Hi G26WESTGATE,

If there are no abnormal knocking noises during acceleration, then there should not be any damage to the engine. Normally insufficient oil would cause the conrod and main bearings to go first so the above test would reveal if there are any damage.

The plug seals and valve cover gasket normally does not leak till the oil is dry. Most common causes are the valve seals.
