my 88rex hasn't wanted to start, so i pulled the first spark-plug and it was soaked in oil, i pulled the 2nd, dry&ok, 3rd, oily, not soaked like the first, and the last one was dry , my first thought was the rings are shot, granted it's almost 20 years old and 184250 is the mileage, 1.6, 5spd, i put new plugs in and it wont start, and all new plugs were dry after trying to start for 10 min, what to do? I have never changed the fuel pump either???

Thanks for listening. Jim

You need to determine if there is spark at the plugs. Could be a coil that is gone. The oil on the plugs, is that on the tip or the top of the plug?

make sure you are getting spark, could be a bad sensor in the distributor, doesnt have a coil. make sure you here the fuel pump kick on, to make sure it is getting fuel.
