On a cold engine the car cranks strong and starts, but can choke out immediately if I don't press on the gas pedal. No problems with warm engine starts.

What could cause the engine to choke off immediately on a cold engine?

Hi EZ Ed,

You need to check the cold start fast idle valve, throttle body and IAC for clogging.

We sprayed the idle valve and it starts great now. Thanks!

So sorry I forgot to reply after all this time! I even had trouble refinding this site. However, your diagnosis was perfect!
