Air Conditioning problem
2006 Honda CRV 4 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 78000k miles

When the engine is hot, there is a "clunking" noise coming from the air conditioner, although the ac works fine. If the ac is turned off, the noise stops. Also, whenever the noise occurs, it seems to have an impact on the engine, causing it to surge which has a direct effect on the vehicle's speed. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this and what the solution might be????

Hi pmborn,

Check the serpentine belt. If the belt tensioner indicator is out of specs, get it replaced. If the indicator is within specs, then the auto tensioner could be failing.
