After I'm driving awhile, I hear a very high pitch whistling sound coming fromt the driver's side and when I turn the steering wheel to the left. It gets louder as I drive. When I shut off the car and then start again, it takes awhile before the noise comes back. Any ideas?

No, only when moving. Someone said could be in the bearings?

Bearings do not emit whistling noises.

I would suspect the brake wear indicator or the backing plates to be the culprit. Check these out.
