1995 Honda Civic EX 1.6L 200k miles. Changed the spark plugs for the 10th time. Noticed a small gasket or "o" ring on one of the plugs after removal. Is it essential to replace that part?

I hope that the ring you found was a metallic one. New spark plugs should come with this gasket on them. Why are you changing them for the 10th time?

I change the plugs (copper plugs) about every 20k miles as I drive the car hard. The ring was black plastic and wrapped around one of the plugs upon removal. All medal washers were in place. Thanks for the reply.

That must have come from the wire. Can't see any other way for it to get in the plug well.
