I have a 2001 Honda Civic LX sedan with 133,000 miles 1.7L with A/C. The a/c causes the alternator output to drop from 14.2 volts to 12.6 volts and eventually causes the car to quit running due to the battery being unable to maintain the correct voltage. Have anybody ever heard of this before? I originally thought the alternator was bad but, with all accessories turned on the alternator produces 14.2 volts until you activate the a/c. Can anybody help me?

Thank youi

You could have a short in the A/C clutch, You still need to have your battery and altenator checked out. It is possible that when you turn your A/C on, you lose enough RPM that the alternator cannot keep up. Also be sure your battery terminals are clean and cables are working fine.
