The radiator on my civic recently broke, It's a 98 civic lx, 4 cyl with 162,000 miles on it. I need to know what other than the radiator itself I need to purchase and replace on it.

Any help would be great, cause I honestly haven't a clue.

Hi there.

You should always re place the thermostat & gasket/seal you will need new coolant that suits your motor, check the condition of all the belts, replace if required and if the water pump has never been replaced do that as well, check the condition of all the hoses, make sure that none are hard or over soft, if your not to sure about all this, remembering about bleeding the system of airas well, get a mechanic to do it for you, I'm sure that you don't want to be back here with a blown motor due to something missed.

A lot of what was said is true. I would worry so much about the water pump. Check the hoses out and reinstall. Add the coolant to the system, bring the car up to normal operating temp and then crack open the bleeder located on the top hose near the block. Do it slowly and several times to ensure that the air is out of the system. Make sure the coolant level in the overflow is correctly filled.
