I've noticed a pronounced increase in noise when I exceed 45-50 mph. Is really excessive around 60+ mph. I thought it was in the engine, so I put the car in neutral and revved the rpms to above 3,000 but did not replicate the sound. Noise only is audible when driving fast. Something in the wheels/brake/rotor aparatus seems to be wearing down.

Just had oil change and car's maintenence checked six weeks ago and Honda mechanic said brakes were fine.

Hi stonegator,

How does the noise sound like?

If it is a growling type noise and increases with road speed only, then it most probably would be a bad wheel bearing.

Yes, the noise is a growling sound and it does amplify with an increase in speed.

Find a road with a gentle curve. While driving note if the noise increases and decreases when making turns. If yes, at least one of the wheel bearings is bad.

Okay. Thanks. Any idea if it's a big job or cost?

Book time for replacing a front wheel bearing is 1.3 hour.

The bearing is listed at $89.23.

Labor cost and parts prices varies region to region so you should check out local conditions for the correct rpice.
