I have 2003 Honda Civic Ex, the other day I was on my way home and got stuck in traffic. I had only been sitting in traffic for about 15 minutes when I noticed that the temp gauge was pegged on H. I immediately pulled the car over and shut it off to allow it to cool down. It cooled down quickly. After about 20 minutes I started the car back up and made the trip the rest of the way home without any problems. (about 15 miles) I've let the car idle in the garage for about 30 minutes and noticed that the radiator fan never switches on. I turned on the A/C and both fans run. I checked the oil after reading several postings about blown head gaskets and everything looks ok. (no milky subs. in the oil) Any suggestions? I haven't changed the fan switch yet but I did check the relay.

Could be a problem with the temperature gauge switch or the coolant temperature sensor not telling the computer to switch on the fan thru the relay.

I ended up replacing the thermoswitch that's located on the outside of the thermostat housing. That did the trick.

Thanks for your reply.
