Electrical problem
2001 Honda Civic 4 cyl Manual 175888 miles

I have a 01' Honda Civic Dx I have replaced the battery over 6 times in the last year. the car continues to burn the batteries or over heat them. It will be fine for a month or so, then it starts to make a rotten egg smell and the battery is leaking the acid out. i had the alternator checked twice at autopart stores it registered fine. I heard something about a regulator could be bad that connects to the alternator. Any help I would be so grateful.

Hi angelb2010,

Symptoms indicates a possible fault with the voltage regulator inside the alternator.

Tests done could have checked the charge voltage but was it performed to check if it is over-charging the system resulting in the failing batteries?
