I believe the berrings in my alternator are going bad. There is a burrrrrr.... nosie that is coming from the alternator area that increases as you accelerate. How much should it cost to replace the alternator, with a new one and a rebuilt

Hello

I am not sure of the auto parts stores around you. It looks like Auto Zone has one for about $152. This has a lifetime warranty. O’Reilly’s has the same offer but from what I saw this one was a rebuild.

New or rebuild for this shouldn’t be a big deal. They can test them in the store before you leave (I suggest this) just to make sure they are okay. The other nice thing is the lifetime warranty. Next time it goes out you get the next replacement free.

While you are there you may consider having them pull the codes on your car just to make sure nothing else is wrong. This is free.

Also, while there they can bring their tester our and check the battery, alternator and starter to make sure those are working okay. This too is free.

I know you are replacing your alternator, but please once installed have the battery checked too if you don’t do any of the above.
