My car has been moaning when I turn and whining at idle. I figured it was the power steering and took it in. They said it was in fact that, but then said while checking the car they noticed my front struts were leaking. They said they could replace them, and then they would need to do an alignment. I have been driving back and forth about 150 miles the past couple of months and have hit these rough railroad tracks several times. Could this be what caused it? I'm having everything fixed, but I just wanted to make sure this all sounded normal and that an alignment would be necessary after replacing the struts or if I'm getting taking.

Thank you!

Hi Hollie704,

Strut replacement does not affect the alignment unless repairs are made to the ball joints, links or bushes.

The job of struts are to absorb the shocks of wheels bumping on road surfaces etc so they get worn out over time due to age when seals are fatigued and starts leaking.
