today my 99 civic ex suddenly started making a dull clicking sound when i give it gas. it seemed loudest when i first put pressure on the gas pedal but got quieter when i actually started accelerating. realizing i was about 1700 miles overdue for an oilchange i decided to pull over and add a quart. (the dip stick read bone dry) also when changing gears from 1st to 2nd or neutral to 1st it wouldnt go into gear at first, then it would die. now the car starts up and will run idle but as soon as i try to give it gas it dies, if i try puting it in gear it dies. please help! thankyou

Hi kgray256,

Check the fuel pressure.

If the clicking noise appears only when accelerating and there is lack of engine oil, there is a possibility you have hurt the conrod bearings.

Hope it is not as bad as that.

Good luck
