1998 Honda Civic 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 210000 miles
Is it possible for the alternator and the speedometer to fail simultaneoulsly? My wife reports that the lights began to flicker at the same time that the speedometer failed. My estimate is the speed sensor and the alternator need replacement. Unrelated, the check engine light came on a week prior. The codes returned point to O2 sensor for that.

They all share the same fuse. The fuse is blown causing this conditions. Replace the fuse and if it blows again, the alternator power wire is most likely shorting out.
