My air conditioner is working and cooling just fine. However, in the last 2 weeks, I am getting a noise from my a/c unit only when the A/C is on and the compressor is engaged. It sounds like a clicking sound a belt wound make or possibly a bearing problem. My question is, does it sound like the compressor may need to be replaced, and also, how much should a replacement compressor run? Thanks.

It the noise is there only when the AC is on, it is most likely a bearing in the compressor itself. If it persists when the ac is off, it may be the hub and bearing, which can be purchased seperately. keep in mind, some accessory noises can echo when load is applied so be sure to determine where the noise is coming from before replacing any parts. Compressors can run from $100.00 to $600.00 depanding on whether you purchase new, used, or aftermarket.
