1998 Honda Civic grinding

our honda civic ex seems to have gradually gotten worse at first there ws a whistling coming from the front tires and we now have a grinding sound and sometimes shudders as we stop. if you could help diagnose the problem that would be a great help.

Seems the front brake pads have won out and is now grinding against the brake rotors.

Initial whistling was due to brake wear indicator brushing against rotor, signalling you to replace the brake pads but you ignored it, now you would have to reface/replace the rotor as well.
