how do i replace. do i need any special tools?

remove 32mm axle nut. use a punch and hammer to free the axle in the hub splines. Remove the lower balljoint cotter pin and the 17mm nut. use a pickle fork to crack the balljoint free of the lower control arm. remove the strut fork via 14mm pinch bolt and a 17mm nut and bolt. Pull the knuckle forward and push the axle out of the splines of the knuckle so its free to be pulled out. Get a pry bar and pry on the inner CV against the transmission and the axle should pop out along with a tiny bit of transmission fluid (so top up).
