My initial problem was that while driving the car would turn off. Which brings me back to my 2nd issue. I had the car seating on my driveway for over 18 months and now that I want to get the initial problem fixed I cant shift into gear. The car starts but it wont let me shift into any gear while the car is ON. When the key is off the ignition I can shift. Any advice would be helpful.

Hi rzncvc69,

After sitting for so long, most probably the clutch is sticking to the flywheel and depressing the clutch pedal does not free the disc. I guess the clutch operation is normal??

Set vehicle on level ground.
With engine off, engage 3rd gear.
Release handbrakes and foot brakes.
Depress clutch and rock the vehicle.
It might take some time till the vehicle suddenly feels like it has been released. Do not be alarmed if you hear any loud noise when the clutch releases itself.

Good luck.
