1997 Honda Civic Dragging-like noise

When decelerating from around 40 MPH the car makes a dragging "shushing" sound. FYI, the axle boots were both replaced at 80,000.

It sounds like your brakes are dragging.

If this is coming from the front ensure that you do not have a seized caliper or caliper pins.

If it is coming from the rear ensure that the parking brake adjustment is good and that the rear brakes are adjusted PROPERLY. A quick test would be to see how many clicks it takes to lock your parking brake. 5-7clicks is acceptable, anything lower and the rear brakes are rubbing.

This noise also may be caused by a worn out brake pad. So give your brakes a good look over!
