I have a 97 Civic LX with a 1.6L D16Y7 Engine. When im stopped at a light and give it some gas to make a turn or something. The car doesnt launch like it should. Instead it goes slowly and the car feels like its doing a burnout on gravel. Like wheel slippage. It does it for about 2-5 seconds then it kicks in. But it doesnt do it if I accelerate slowly and take my time. As well it also does it when im driving at about 50-60 mph. Then when I give it alot more gas it stops and the car starts to increase in speed. Sometimes when it does it the engine makes a noise as if its spraying something with every rev. It also does it in park when I rev it fast it hesitates as well. Im not sure what it is and I dont want to pay a mechanic to take aport everything because im 17 and dont have the money for that.

Hi 97_Civic_Lx,

After reading your question a few times I stiil can't seem to understand it.

Do you mean to say the engine revs very high but the car does not want to move forward fast during take off?
If that is the case, you need to check the ATF and trans throttle cable adjustment. I do not know the trans model type, so I take it it is with throttle cable.

The hesistation when revving could be due to misfiring caused by spark plugs or cables.
