Backyard mecanic replaced the liniar selinoid in transmission - now this4rg gear light has come on - does not go out - car will move but not smoothly. Is there an adjustment necessary or is car doomed to junk yard? Please help - any advice appreciated at this point. I'm afraid that repair is going to be costly.

The 4th gear light is flashing all the time, the park and neutral do light up when the shift lever is moved. I did ck the transmission fluid level, appears to be over full, you can see fluid way up on stick - above 2 marks. Could this be part of problem?

Do any other gear positions light up? If in park, does the "P" light up? If not it is probably the trans position sensor that is out. That tells the PCM which gear you are in, so it knows how to make the trans operate, per engine rpm, vehicle speed. Etc. That may be why the trans isnt working properly. I would take it to a trans shop or Honda to have it looked at

Was the trans warmed up, engine idling in Park? If the light is blinking, you need to take it back to the tech that worked on it, that means the PCM has recorded a problem with the trans
