The transmission is slipping on my 97 honda civic and someone told it couldn't be serviced, Is that true? I thought I could change the filter and fluid?

Hi rby62,

The filter cannot be replaced, it is a non maintenance item located deep inside the trans assy.

If the slipping is due to low fluid or improper throttle cable adjustment, there is still hope, otherwise it needs a rebuilt.

If it is a CVT trans, incorrect spec of fluid used will cause slippage.
