Took my car in for an oil change yesterday and they also replaced the fuel filter. The fuel filter was on pretty well or maybe rusted on a bit and they had to spend about 20 mintues trying to get it off. The next morning my check engine light goes on, my speedometer isn't working except sporadically and my headlights and interior lights are pulsating. Took it back to the shop where I was told that there was really nothing they could have done that would have caused this problem and there's nothing they can do. Took it to Advanced Auto Parts and there are 3 codes popping up for the speed, upstream and downstream sensor.
My first question is whether it is likely that this problem was caused during the oil and filter change? It is an old car, but it seems a bit too much of a coincidence.
Second, it doesn't seem like these codes would cause the pulsating lights. Am I wrong on this and if not, what may be the problem there?
Finally, I have a 2 mile drive to work in town and no money to get this fixed right now. Drivng 4 miles a day 5 days a week only, can this repair wait and if so for how long?
Thanks for any help you can offer.
