my mechanic says that I have blown 1 of my valves, or possibly something else that is causing my car to fire only 3 cylinders. he said it's not worth fixing although it's ok to drive with only 3, I just won't have much pick up. Is this safe ?

Wellllll....the worst that could happen if it's an exhaust valve is you won't pass inspection, or when it gets bad enough the head will crack. If it cracks in the wrong place, it could cuase oil to spray onto the hot exhaust manifold, possibly resulting in a fire....How far down this road you are? Don't know...
