Engine Cooling problem
1996 Honda Civic Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
I have a 96 honda civic. Lately it has been having problems with the oil meter going up to the very top and heating up. At first it is usually okay, but after about a mile of driving it already heats up and after a bit i think the engine starts making weird noises that you can hear while you are driving. I had a friend look at it and he said that the part where the coolant goes to the engine was missing and he replaced it by buying a fifty dollar piece. The car was okay for a day after that but then started having the same problems. At the very beginning we thought the coolant was leaking since it was very low, and we filled it up and it hasnt gotten lower since. I think it was driven with low coolant for a while. The car also hasn't had an oil change in quite a while. Anything to get an idea of what may be wrong would help!! thanks

Hi 1827074,

What you described is not the oil meter, it should be the temperature gauge.

You might have damaged the engine by blowing a gasket.

Check the radiator coolant level again. Is the radiator fan working when the AC is turned on?

What was the part replaced?
