I got my car about 16 months ago, it had 130k miles on it. The previous owner said the timing belt and the water pump replaced. The car was in decent condition, until the first oil change. The car started to burn oil (1qt / 500 miles) and blue/gray smoke comes out the muffler. Now, and for a month now, I start hearing knocking coming out the engine( I think the valve?) when car is WARM and low RPM. I tried LUCAS oil, but didn’t help.
What is the best most affordable fix I can do to keep the car running for a year until I graduate and afford to buy another car??
I appreciate your help

Where is this knocking coming from is it from the upper part of the engine or lower part?

I've just saw a mechanic, and he said its the "rods" and he suggested that I should replace the engine. Now, is there any thing I can do to try and extend the engine's life??
I really appreciate your quick respond
thanks,

Raise the engine oil weight might just lower the noise and buy you time or get a crankshaft kit
