I have a 1995 Honda civic with a stock D15B7 SOHC. I was driving on the highway one day and I lost all motor response. I later found out it was my timing belt that broke! Me and my friend which are both ASE certified decided to do a rebuild from scratch, replaced all gaskets , spark plugs, spark plug wires , cracked hoses , radiator cap , pcv valve , fuel filter , fuel pump , timing belt , alternator , battery terminals , battery , ground wires , cam gear , and all other necessary parts and some unecessary parts like fuel regulator and what not. I put every thing back together by the books checked twice by me and my friend . It started up just fine on the second attempt. This was back in april of '08 I left it sit for 6 mounths and went to start it up and all it does now is back fire and blow black smoke when I try to start it up the timing is off I know this for a fact I am getting spark and fuel and reset the timing again but still nothing please help need car one road again only car

Hi mkshaft1,

When an engine sits for 6 months just after rebuild, it can be due to many factors that the engine is not running properly.

I would suggest rechecking the following,
1. Valve and ignition timing.
2. Spark plugs, coil and distributor
3. Compression.
4. Fuel pressure, injectors.
