Just bought this car. Previous owner says the cv axles are new and new shocks and struts. I looked at them and they do look to be newer. CV Boots appear to be in good shape as well and not leaking. While driving there is a loud rattle noise. You can feel it under your feet below the floorpans on both sides rattling. Really sounds like "play" like something is just loose. Sounds weighty too, not like a heat shield rattling or anything as I'm told is common in Civics. It isnt constant, but it is very frequent. RPMs dont seem to affect it and there is no performance loss noticeable. No difference when turning. You can wiggle the cv axles just a little bit at the transmission side...Is this normal or should it be totally solid? Im guessing its that or one of the stablizer arms rattling near the wheel but they all seem tight to me. Can't get it to rattle when pushing down on the hood, only while rolling.

Hi tshepp86,

If the rattling is the the hard type, thn most probably some bushes or linkages are worn.

The most common cuse for rattling noises over bumps would be the stabilizer links. Check hte stabilizer bushes as well.

The CV shaft should have a little side play, but not too much.
