Steering problem
1995 Honda Civic Manual

I just had the front axles and the left tie rod replaced because the steering jerked to the right after a right hand turn and jerked to the left when trying to straighten the car out. After having the repair done the steering seemed to be working fine, then I had the same problem again about a week later. The jerking was accompanied by a knocking noise. I brought the car back in and was told that nothing was wrong other then the front tires being bald. The tires were rotated and the car drove fine for a little less then a week. I then had the same problem again. So this steering issue seems to be sporadic as the repair shop test drove the car after the second incident and found no problems with the steering. Does this sound like the power steering pump, cv joints? Any suggestions would be helpful.

If the suspension clunks/knocks, there is a problem.

Check your balljoints, stabilizer bar bushings and endlinks, control arm bushings, mounts, etc.

If the shop cannot find the problem, get a second opinion.

By the way, did they do an alignment after doing your tie rods?

Not sure about the allignment, but after the second time I brought it in, they rotated the tires and I think there may have been a problem with the allignment after that. Brought it somewhere different this time. What problems can be caused by not alligning everything after replacing the tie rod and axles?
