I cannot shift the car out of park. What are your suggestions?

Hi 1138thx,

Check for a blown fuse or faulty brake switch.

If you need to use the car, try using manual unlocking of the interlock.
Insert the ignition key into key slot near geat shift and shift to N.

CAUTION : You might not have brakes lights working.

The same thing happened to my wife's car. The brake switch went bad and it wouldn't shift out of park then the brake lights stopped working. So I'm 99% sure its your brake switch and try an junk yard b/c with cruse control its like $75 with out its cheaper. I got my wife's off like an 1990 Honda accord

I do appreciate it. I replaced the brake light switch a few months ago (brake lights quit working), so i'm figuring it's a fuse problem. In the meantime, there is an alternative way to shift from park into neutral by inserting a key into a slot just above the shaft. Thanks so much.

Hi 1138thx,

That is for emergency uses because you would be driving without any brake lights ;)
