1994 Honda Civic replaced top end now no start

i recently bought a 94 honda civic dx i never noticed till i got it home but it was blowing blue smoke out of the exahaust so i tore the top end of the engine apart and replaced all the gaskets and valve seals it had already had a new distributor installed and i replaced the timeing belt and the alt also the water pump i have set the timeing several time well keep checking it anyway its staying on the marks the problem is that it won't start after all this it is getting fire and fuel just wont start it does crank over i need help badly im not a mechanic by no means but did this on my own did i miss something or is there something else i can do if the rocker arms are bad could this cause the engine to not start any help would be great thanks

Hi coolbaugh2008,

With sparks and fuel available, the engine should start unless :
1. Firing order or plug wires are worngly installed.
2. Engine compression is low. Check the compression, squirt some engine oil into the plug holes after removing them and crank for a few seconds without the plugs.
3. ECU is not signalling the injectors to fire. Try putting some starting fluid into the throttle body.

ok provided i squirt oil into my plug wholes what will this do for me should i install the plugs right after that and how doew this tell me about my compression i guess what im asking is what is this going to tell me also could i have done something wrong installing the cam and rocker arms that would cause my engine not to start but to crank and fire
