- left lower ball join broke, causing trans axle to separate at the inner cv joint
- both were replaced new and now the car doesnt move when its put in gear
- makes slight grinding noise when in reverse
-car will run in gear, with foot off of the clutch as if it in in neutral.

Question is, could this be the clutch problem or something we havent discovered?

my friend your axle that you just installed is not in the transmission all the way. double check that it is in all the way in then tell all your friends how we helped you. ps i had one this morning for this exact same problem. very common even for the professional.
