I have a 89 Civic Si, the check engine light comes on once in a while but will usually go off if I shut off the engine. It is throwing a "code 9" (9 blinks)...can someone tell me what this means? Does it have to do with fuel injectors, because it coincides with a hiccup sort of feeling? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi bnerweener,

Code 9 is a fault with the CYL sensor in distributor and would cause the hiccup. Starting could be affected as well.

Most probably you need to replace the distributor. Check the wiring harness connection. You can test the resistance of the circuits to confirm if the sensor is bad. Usually the sensor coil has detached itself from its seat and is damaged by the rotor.
