I might by a friend's junker for cheap. It is pretty cold here in wisconsin, and he hasnt really used this car for about a year. It started in August without a problem. Now, in December, we tried starting it and there was nothing at first. We used jumper cables to charge the battery several times, and things moved slowly, but the car never started. Any tips?

Instead of using jumper cable to charge the battery, remove the battery from the vehicle and have it load tested at an auto parts store. Most of them will do it for free. And if you see any corrosion on the battery terminals, clean them really good.
