History: 95 Honda Accord V6 about 237,000 miles
alternator replaced 1 week ago, new battery 3 months or so, radiator hoses within a year, radiator about 1 1/2 years, complete sealing of engine upon purchase, timing, water pump, both 02 sensors, cam shaft, crank, valve cover gasket, etc, etc almost 2 years ago, about 60,000 miles though

We were driving down the road a little while ago, about 40mph, windows down, started hearing like a loud rushing air or waterfall noise, pulled over, lifted hood, was very loud under hood. Got home (about 5 miles) couldn't hear it very loudly as travelling, but still heard it. Got in the driveway, lifted hood, fan running strongly, billow of smoke (against dark sky, can't really describe color) smell of burning oil, now car won't restart. Please tell us what's wrong.

Hello...
start checking the fluids (water, engine oil, transmission oil, power steering fluid, brakes fluid)

Check underneath your car for something loose or abnormal...

Let us know of your findings

we check fluids frequently, in fact my husband had checked oil yesterday and it was good, and water day before that, which he put some in.

i realized last night that since the alternator was replaced (by my husband, he also admitted to me that he lost a little black nipple off of something putting in the alternator, but he claims it was to keep dust off something....???????) the gauge showing temperature has not been moving off cold and am wondering if it somehow got messed up.

the radiator never showed hot last night, and when checked last night was cold. now he has looked at radiator and it had almost no water in it. he filled it, and just found a large hole in a hose leading from the radiator, but not a hose that he has had to replace before (we replaced upper and lower radiator hoses about a year, and a year and 3 months ago). He is trying to figure out what it is, how to take it off, where it leads, etc. as we speak.

The car never acted like this though when previous problems with radiator hoses, radiator itself. Is there possible there was damage done by alternator? Is there possible there was additional damage done to engine from whatever has happened with hose? Do we need to look for something else?

Well.. we have to find first where that hose goes..
it was not hot because it has no water and with no water the temperature sensor wont work..

hopefully the engine head its not damage...

its the engine "wet" or the water drain just below the engine?

let us know your findings !
