Replaced Accord timing belt

96 Accord EX (4cyl) 5-speed 170,000mi. Yesterday, I had it in the shop to get the timing belt replaced. He also replaced the balance shaft belt and the two belts that run alternator, ac compressor, etc.

When I picked it up, it runs fine, accelerates fine. The idle might be a bit faster than before (not sure), but the engine sounds louder. It sounds like it could just be an exhaust leak, but what are the chances of developing a leak while at the shop? Also, there is a slight vibration in the gas pedal and the steering wheel. Could the timing belt or balance shaft belt be off a little to cause this? Have driven about 40 miles and no check engine light.

Take it back to the shop that did the work and make them check it again. Timming belt could be just one notch off or balance. One notch could mean running faster or slower. When you say exhaust sound, is it a rumble or hiss? Either way just take it back.

Vandragon,

It was a rumble, not a hiss, and the vibrations through the pedal and the wheel seem to be connected to it.

Thanks
