Honda Accord 1997, 4cy, 191,000 miles

Car is making a horrible noise when making left hand turns. The sound seems coming from the front passenger side of the car. The sound could be described as a hubcap rolling down the highway, or a popcan being ran across an aluminum picket fence. The car only makes this noise when making a left turn.

I took it to a mechanic and he thought it was the heat shield. He wiggled it around and said he "fixed" it. Thank goodness after he "fixed" it he took it for another spin and the noise is still just as awful.

Any ideas on the cause of this terrible racket?

yep sounds like a bad cv joint. i'm guessing the boot isn't torn because if it is, there's no excuse for a tech to miss that. even if the boot isn't torn the joint can still go bad.
