Problems with the window and gas pedal.

Hi, I have a 98 Honda Accord Coupe Ex. My passenger window will not stay all the way shut. When I press the switch to roll up, it goes all the way up and then drops down about a 1/4 of an inch or so. If I hold the switch (which I don't like to do) the glass will rattle but it never goes up all the way. I took the door panel off studied it for about half an hour and watched everything the assembly inside did when I used the switch. I even compared it with the driver side, which does work and couldn't find any difference. The cheapest price I've gotten just to look at it was $70 so that's out of the question for now, meanwhile every time it rains my seat gets wet. I would really like to fix it myself but I can't figure it out. The other problem I have is that whenever I first drive my car after it's been parked for a little while, there's alot of resistance behind the gas pedal for some reason. I have to apply a good bit of pressure just to break the jam and I end up practically flooring it every time. I would really appreciate any assistance you could offer. Thanks.

The window. You are experiencing the beginning stages of the total failure of the window mechanism. No Honda does not offer any replacement parts. They will sell you the whole assembly. I have gotten prices of over $300 for rear window assemblies on a 95 Civic that my son drives. He rarely has anyone sit in the back so I opted to drill a hole in the mechanism and hold the window up with a screw. One day I might invest in a replacement but I doubt it. So, be prepared. I would probably not waste the $70 and might throw that money to the replacement mechanism. You could try a salvage yard.

The accelerator cable is where I would start. First make sure the pedal is free to move uninhibited. Then you need to make sure the cable moves absolutely free and easy. You can turn the cam by hand a remove the cable from it be sure that the cable AND the pedal move easy and freely. After that the shaft for the accelerator cam is what I would check next.
