My daughter's 1996 Accord developed an oil leak. It is a small crack above the oil drain plug. I fixed it with JB Weld and it held until someone else changed her oil and cranked on the plug too hard. I need to change the pan. How much trouble is it? I need the procedure. ALLDATA says just remove the flywheel shroud and take the pan off. Sometimes ALLDATA leaves small tricks out. Do I have to move the exhaust pipe also or not? Also, I need to change the Speedo/instrument cluster. How do I do that?

Thanks

Frank....

I forgot.... It has the 2.2 VTECH 4 cyl. engine and a 5 spd tranny

A maintenance manual is what you need to pack in to the car as a first aid kit.

The instrument cluster is a matter of taking starting from the bottom of the dash and moving upward to remove any parts that restrict the removal.

The oil pan is also a remove it and takes off or loosen whatever is in the way. When putting that oil pan back on, make sure you tighten the bolts to spec AND just snug the bolts, all of them. Then half tighten opposing bolts and continue until all are half way tight. Next round same procedure and tighten to spec.
