When i turn my key to the "on" position everything is normal, but when i turn it forward to start the car I loose all of my dashboard lights. The car will crank but not turn over. I found out that if, while the car is cranking, i quickly pull the key back to the "on" position the car will sputter but will turn over and start.

It also has a rough idle that started along with the start issue.

If by turning the key back it fires and runs, you should be able to tell that the ignition switch is telling you it needs to be replaced.
