I have a 1998 Honda Accord EX w/ 98,000miles it's a 4cylinder. Almost a year ago I hade a "Catalytic Efficency Below Threshold" code come up and was told I need a new cat. converter and O2 sensor. Being I'm in grad school and didn't have $900 I ignored this. I'm now in a position to fix it, however, I've noticed my car is not accelerating as well, shakes noticebaly when it is at a light, and the AC which was fully re-charged blows out warm air and makes the car shake even more. Are these all related to the fact that my catalytic converter is shot? How bad is it to ignore a broken cat?

The A/C is probably not related, but the shaking and probably drop in fuel economy are related. Has the Check Engine Light stayed on or come back on? Those two items are important in telling the computer how to mix the fuel. Bad readings and the computer will provide the engine with a rich or lean mixture and the result might be just what you are experiencing.
