I currently own a 1998 Honda Accord with 125,000 miles on it.. The car used to drive like a dream, but within the last 5 months it has started to shake (more like vibrate) at between 40-50 mph.. Once you get past 50 mph it stops.. If I am accelerating from 35 to 70 (entrance ramp to highway speed limit) you can't feel the vibtation at all.. However, because I travel some back roads I am constantly set on the speed limits between 40 - 50 mph.. So, basically every 5 minutes or so it starts to shimmy again..

It has been to now 2 different mechanics and they are all completely confused.. In the last few months they have attempted to do front end alignment, replace the tires, balance the tires, replace the front links, put new struts, new front brakes, ensuring appropriate air pressure in all tires.. It's still doing it.. It makes absolutely no sense.. Has anyone ever heard of something like this?

A thought.....You travel back roads and do you encounter any wet conditions of water, mud, dirt, etc? I am just thinking about a simple thing of dirt packed on the rim. Hard to figure it could be a problem and cause the problems. It comes and it goes. Clean the rims really good especially on the inside. If it gets worse I wouldn't be surprised. If they balanced with a dirty rim and you clean it, there is a possibility it could be worse. Check that out and let us know.
