Every morning, the car makes a noise immediately after starting. On cold days the noise sounds like you put an aluminum can on the ground and step on it and smash it. On warmer days, the noise is still present, however not as loud nor does it sound as "crushing". This mostly happens in mornings, when it is the first start of the day. However, again when it is colder, the less abrasive noise will appear after my car has sat for 6-8 hours in my work parking lot. Any ideas? Thanks!!

Hi bbds,

Where is the noise coming from?
Did you check the serpentine belt condition?

I believe the noise is coming from the passenger side of the engine. Is that where my serpentine belt is located?

I did find out the problem at the dealership last week. It was the variable timing control actuator. there was a bulletin put out by honda america regarding this problem, and the dealership replaced the part by warranty due to this bulletin. since the weather is warm now, they did not hear the noise as loudly, but replaced still. if you search for the bulletin it actually lists the vin #'s involved. also, if you are having problems with early brake wear visit www.girardgibbs.com/hondabrakes.asp
