After a few hours at a friends house, the car would not start at all! We jumped the car and it started just fine. On the drive home, the engine would periodically shut off and then turn back on again as we were driving. I could tell it was doing this because the gauges would all suddenly drop and then rise again, as well as the air conditioning shutting off and then on again as we were driving. When we got home, I shut off the engine and then tried to start it again. Sure enough, the battery was completely dead.

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

You may have a failing alternator, if the alternator is not charging at full capacity, you will not be fully charging the battery and demand on the electrical system driving at night or with extra load such as A/C may have the system balanced on a knife edge as far a re charging is concerned, i would get the battery fully charged & load tested and have the alternator tested under peak load conditions as well, this may well show up a fault in one or both components, start here.
